AudioFilter does not collect, store, transmit, or share any user data. All processing happens locally in your browser.
What AudioFilter Does
- Reads on-screen subtitle text to detect blocked words
- Intercepts subtitle file downloads (TTML/WebVTT) to parse timing data
- Temporarily mutes the browser tab when a blocked word is detected
- Stores your settings (blocked word list, mute duration) locally via Chrome's sync storage
Permissions Explained
- tabs — Required to mute/unmute the browser tab audio
- storage — Required to save your settings
- Host permissions — Required to run on streaming sites that play video with subtitles
Third-Party Services
AudioFilter does not communicate with any external servers or third-party services. No analytics, no tracking, no network requests are made by the extension.
